Inthispaper,byusingtheECMWFobjectiveanalyseddataaswellasCACandNOAAgridpointdataof1981and1983,thesensibleandlatentheatfluxesattheairandseaboundarysurfacewithintherangeof45°E-75°W,35°N-35°SoverthePacificandtheIndianOceanarecalculated.Thepurposeistoanalysethedifferentrevealingfeaturesduringthematurestageandattheendofthe1982-1983ElNinoeventandtocomparethedifferenceofthefeaturesbetweenthdElNinoandthenormal.TheresultshowsthattheairandseaheatexchangewestofthedatelineoverthecentraltropicalPacificduringtheEJNinoperiodismoreintensethanthatofthenormal.However,thefluxesofthesensibleandlatentheatontheseasurfacewithstrongwarmingofSSTneatbyandonthesouthsideoftheequatoreastof170°Warelowandevennegative,andthepatternsofthesensibleandlatentheatfluxesovertheIndianOceanduringtheyearof1983aresimilertothatofnormal.Spatialpatternsofthesensible
