Theobjectiveofthisstudyistocharacterizethethree-dimensionalfluidflowinthevesselcontainingoneceramiccandlefilter.Thethree-dimensionalgoverningequationsareformulatedinthisstudyandtheturbulentκ-εmodelisadoptedforthenumericalcomputation.Itisfoundthattheviscousforceisdominantintheporousregionwithcomparedtoinertiaforce.Pressuedecreaseslinearlywhentheflowpassingthroughtheporousmedium.Whenthefacevelocityis0.03m/s,thepressuredropisabout350Pa.Ithasalsobeenfoundthatthefluidwiththespiralmotiontobesunkintothefilterinthevessel.
