ThispaperpresentsaclosedformsolutionandnumericalanalysisforEshelby’sellipticinclusioninaninfiniteplate.Thecomplexvariablemethodandtheconformalmappingtechniqueareused.Thecontinuityconditionsforthetractionanddisplacementalongtheinterfaceinthephysicalplanearereducedtothesimilarconditionsalongtheunitcircleofthemappingplane.Thepropertiesofthecomplexpotentialsdefinedinthefiniteellipticregionareanalyzed.Fromthecontinuityconditions,onecanseparateandobtaintherelevantcomplexpotentialsdefinedintheinclusionandthematrix.Fromtheobtainedcomplexpotentials,thedependenceoftherealstrainsandstressesintheinclusionfromtheassumedeigenstrainsisevaluated.Inaddition,thestressdistributionontheinterfacealongthematrixsideisevaluated.Theresultsareobtainedinthepaperforthefirsttime.
