摘要
BasedonhistoricaldocumentsandrecordsthispaperanalyzesthecharacteristicsoffrequencyanddistributionofmajordisastersthattookplaceinthehistoryofChina.Thefindingsshowthatoccurrencesofdifferenttypesofdisastersvariedandspatialpatternatprovinciallevelaresignificantlydifferentaswell.Theresultsalsoindicatethatthereisastrongrelationshipbetweentypeofdisastersandspatialdistributionandthatthespatialpatternoflosseswasnotthesameasthatofthefrequency.Thereasonsare:(1)thehazard-formativeenvironmentswhich,toalargeextent,determinethespatialpatternofthedisastersaresignificantlydifferent;(2)thelossescausedbynaturaldisasterswerecloselyrelatedtotheconcentrationofeconomyandpopulation.Numberofdeathswasusuallylargeinareaswhereagriculture,cultureandbusinesswererelativelydeveloped.ThespatialpatternofdisasterlossesisanevitableresultofuneveneconomicdevelopmentinthehistoryofChina.
