简介:Thispaperderivestheforceoftheelectromagneticradiationonleft-handedmaterials(LHMs)byadirectapplica-tionoftheLorentzlawofclassicalelectrodynamics.TheexpressionsofradiationforcearegivenforTE-polarisedandTM-polarisedfields.Thenumericalresultsdemonstratethatelectromagneticwavesexertaninverselateralradiationforceoneachedgeofthebeams,thatis,thelateralpressureisexpansiveforTE-polarisedbeamsandcompressiveforTM-polarisedbeams.TheinvestigationoftheradiationforcewillprovideinsightsintothefundamentalpropertiesofLHMsandwillprovidetobetterunderstandingoftheinteractionoflightwithLHMs.
