简介:Theblastfurnaceistheoldestmetallurgicalprocessincommercialuse.Ithasgonethroughgreatimprovementsduringthelastdecadesandnewimportantmodificationsarestillforeseen.Thehugeamountofcoalandcokeneededforreductionofironoreisresultinginemissionsofcarbondioxidethathavetobestronglyreducedtomeettherequirementofminimizingthecarbonfootprint.Allresidualsfromiron-andsteelmakingalsoneedtobetakencareoftomeettherequirementofzerowaste.ThispaperdealswithseveralpotentialimprovementsoftheblastfurnaceprocessbeingdevelopedintheLKABExperimentalBlastFurnaceinLulea,Swedenoverthelastdecade,includingoperationatultralowslagvolume,injectionofBFfluedust,injectionofBOFslag,andtheoxygenblastfurnace.
