Dielectrophoretic assembly of semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotube transistor

摘要 Anovelburningtechniqueformakingasemiconductingsingle-walledcarbonnanotubes(SWNTs)transistorassembledbythedielectrophoreticforcewassuggested.Thefabricationprocessconsistedoftwosteps.First,toalignandattachabundleofSWNTsbetweenthesourceanddrain,thealternating(AC)voltagewasappliedtotheelectrodes.WhenabundleofSWNTswasconnectedbetweentwoelectrodes,someofmetallicnanotubesandsemi-conducingnanotubesexistedtogether.ThesecondstepistoburnthemetallicSWNTSbyapplyingthevoltagebetweentwoelectrodes.Withincreasingthevoltage,morecurrentflowedthroughthemetallicSWNTs,thus,themetallicSWNTsburntearlierthanthesemiconductingone.Thistechniqueenablestoobtainonlysemi-conductingSWNTsconnectioninthetransistor.ThroughtheI—Vcharacteristicgraph,themomentofmetallicSWNTsburningandthecharacteristicofsemi-conducingnanotubeswereverified.
