A study of factors influencing consumers' behavior in recycling waste household electronic appliances

摘要 Theinnovationoftechnologyandtheimprovementofpeople'slivingstandardacceleratethereplacementofconsumerelectronicappliances,resultinginasignificantincreaseofwastehouseholdelectronicappliances(WHEA).ToaddresstheenvironmentalproblemsofWHEA,manycountrieshaveenactedlegislationaccordingtoWHEAmanagement,includingcollecting,processingandrecycling.TheregulationsonthemanagementofWHEAwerealsodraftedinChinaandpilotprogramsofWHEArecyclingmanagementencountereddifficultiesincollectingWHEA.Thesuccessofarecyclingschemeisdependentonpeople'swillingnessofparticipatinginthescheme.ThispaperappliesAjzen'stheoryofplannedbehaviortoseekthemainfactorstoengourageconsumerstoparticipateinWHEArecyclingmanagementinChina.Datafromasurveyconductedwithasampleof633consumersshowthatservicemotivationisthefirstpredictorofparticipationbehaviorintention,followedbyenvironmentalbehaviorattitude,economicmotivation,subjectivenorm,andperceivedbehaviorbarrier.Environmentalknowledgeisfoundnottobethepredictorofbehaviorintentioninthisrecyclingscheme.StudyresultsalsosuggestthatpublicityisthekeysituationalfactorintheWHEArecyclingmanagement.Recyclingnetworkandpolicyhavelittleinfluenceonchangingconsumers'currentbehaviorintentionandparticipation.Implicationsofthefindingsarediscussedandfutureresearchdirectionsaresuggestedintheend.
