摘要
Proceedingfromtheeigenvalueequationofthenormalmodeinhomogeneousshallowwater,wederiveseveralformulaecalculatingthemodeattenuationandgroupvelocity,andcomparetheiraccu-racybymeansofnumericalresults.Thepaperespeciallydiscussestheattenuationandthegroupve-locityofcriticalmodeinaPekerischannelandshowsthatingeneral,theattenuationandthegroupvelocityofthecriticalmoderespectivelyarelessthantheabsorptionandthesoundspeedinthebot-tom.Therefore.theKornhauser,Raney,WestonTindle‘sconclusionsaremodifiedthattheattenuationandthegroupvelocityofthecriticalmodeareexactlyequaltotheabsorptionandthesoundspeedinthebottom,respectively.
