摘要 TheRedRiverFaultZoneisagiganticslide-slipfaultzoneextendingupto1000kmfromTibettoSouthChinaSea.Ithasbeendividedintothenorth,centralandsouthsegmentsaccordingtothedifferenceofthegeometry,kinetics,andseismicityontheland,butaccordingtothecontactedrelationshipbetweentheoldpre-CenozoicblockinIndochinaPeninsulaandtheSouthChinablock,theRedRiverFaultZonewasdividedintotwopartsextendingfromlandtoocean,thenorthandsouthsegments.SincetheTertiary,theRedRiverFaultZonesufferedfirstthesinistralmovementandthenthedextralmovement.Theactivitiesofthenorthandthesouthsegmentsweredifferent.Basedontheanalysisofearthquakesandfocalmechanismsolutions,earthquakeswiththefocusdepthsof0-33kmaredistributedoverthewholeregionandmoredeepearthquakesaredistributedonthenortheasternsidesoftheRedRiverfault.Typesoffaultingactivitiesarethethrustinthenorthwest,thenormalinthenorthandthestrike-slipinthesouth,withtheoddtype,viz.thetransitiontype,intheotherregion.TheseshowtheRedRiverFaultZoneanditsadjacentregionsufferedtheextrudingforceinNNWdirectionandthenormalstressinNEEdirectionanditmakesthefaultintheregionextrude-thrust,horizontalstrike-slipandextensionalnormalmovement.
