摘要 TheBaBardataacquisitionsystem(DAQ)transportsdatafromthedetectorfrontendeletronicstoshorttermdiskstorage.Amonitoringapplication(VMON)hasbeendevelopedtomonitortheonehundredandninetycomputersinthedataflowsystem.PerformanceinformationforeachCPUiscollectedandmulticastacrosstheexistingdatatransportnetwork.ThepacketsarecurrentlycollectedbyasingleUNIXworkstationandarchived.AROOTbasedGUIprovidescontrolanddisplaystheDAQperformanceinrealtime.ThesameGUIisreusedtorecoverarchivedVMONdata,VMONhasbeendeployedandconstantlymonitorstheBaBardataflowsystem.Ithasbeenusedfordiagnosticsandprovidesinputtomodelsprojectingfutureperformance.Theapplicationhasnomeasurableimpactondatataking,respondsinstantaneouslyonthehumantimescaletorequestsforinformationdisplay,andusesonly3%ofa300MHzSunUltra5CPU.
