摘要
Meansealevelriseandclimatologicalwindspeedchangesoccuraspartoftheongoingclimatechangeandfutureprojectionsofbothvariablesarestillhighlyuncertain.HeretheBalticSea'sresponseinextremesealevelstoperturbationsinmeansealevelandwindspeedsisinvestigatedinaseriesofsimulationswithanewlydevelopedstormsurgemodelbasedonthenucleusforEuropeanmodelingoftheocean(NEMO)-Nordic.Asimplelinearmodelwithonlytwotunableparametersisfoundtocapturethechangesinthereturnlevelsextremelywell.Theresponsetomeansealevelriseislinearandnearlyspatiallyuniform,meaningthatameansealevelriseof1mincreasesthereturnlevelsbyaequalamounteverywhere.Theresponsetowindspeedperturbationsismorecomplicatedandreturnlevelsarefoundtoincreasemorewheretheyarealreadyhigh.ThisbehaviourisalarmingasitsuggeststhatalreadyfloodingproneregionsliketheGulfofFinlandwillbedisproportionallyadverselyaffectedinafuturewindierclimate.
