A Generic Identification Scheme for Hierarchically Structured Objects

摘要 Thedetectordescriptiondatabase,theeventdatastructure,theconditiondatabaseareallexamples(amongothers)ofcomplexcollectionsofobjectswhichneedtobeunambiguouslyidentified,notonlyinternallytotheirownmanagementstructure.butalsofromonecollectiontotheother.Therequirementsforsuchanidentificationschemeincludethemanagementofidentifiersindividuallyattachedtoeachcollectedobject,thepossibilitytoformallyspectifytheseidentifiers(egthroughdictionaries),togenerateoptimisedandcompactrepresentationsfortheseidentifiersandtobeabletousethemassortingandsearchingkeys.wepresentherethegenerictoolkitdevelopedinthecontextoftheAtlasexperimenttoprimarilyprovidetheidentificationofthereadoutelementsofthedetector.Thistoolkitoffersseveraleithergenericorspecializedcomponentsuchas:anXMLbaseddictionarywithwhichtheformalspecificationofaparticularobjectcollectionisexpressed,asetofvariousbinaryrepresentationsforidentifierobjects(offeringvariouslevelofcompaction),rangeoperatorsmeanttomanipulaterangesofidentifiers,andfinallyacollectionmanagersimilartotheSTLmapbutoptimisedforanorganizationkeyedbyIdentifiers.Allthesecomponentseasilyinteroperate.InParticulartheIdentifierdidctionaryoffersmeansofspecifyingpermittedcardinalitiesofobjectsateachlevelofthehierarchy,ThiscanthenbetranslatedintoIdentifierRangesorcanbeusedasthestrategydriverforhighcompactificationoftheidentifiers(e.g.tostoreverylargenumberofidentifiedobjects).Currentuseofthistoolkitwithinthedetectordescriptionwillbepresented,andexpectedorpossibleotherusageswillbediscussed.
