EarlystudiessuggestedthattheAleutian-Icelandiclowseesaw（AIS）featuresmultidecadalvariation.Inthisstudy,themultidecadalmodulationoftheAISandassociatedsurfaceclimatebytheAtlanticMultidecadalOscillation（AMO）duringlatewinter（February-March）isexploredwithobservationaldata.Itisshownthat,inthecoldphaseoftheAMO（AMOI-）,aclearAISisestablished,whilethisisnotthecaseinthewarmphaseoftheAMO（AMO[＋）.ThesurfaceclimateoverEurasiaissignificantlyinfluencedbytheAMO＇smodulationoftheAleutianlow（AL）.Forexample,theweakALinAMOI-displayswarmersurfacetemperaturesovertheentireFarEastandalongtheRussianArcticcoastandintoNorthernEurope,butonlyovertheRussianFarEastinAMO{＋.Similarly,precipitationdecreasesovercentralEuropewiththeweakALinAMOI-,butdecreasesovernorthernEuropeandincreasesoversouthernEuropeinAMOI＋.
