摘要
WehavestudiedabiomimeticswimmerbasedonthemotionofbacteriasuchasEscherichiacoli(E.coli)theoreticallyandexperimentally.Theswimmerhasanellipsoidalcellbodypropelledbyahelicalfilament.Theperformanceofthisswimmerwasestimatedbymodelingthedynamicsofaswimmerinviscousfluid.WeappliedtheResistiveForceTheory(RFT)onthismodeltocalculatethelinearswimmingspeedandtheefficiencyofthemodel.Aparametricstudyonlinearvelocityandefficiencytooptimizethedesignofthisswimmerwasdemonstrated.Inordertovalidatethetheoreticalresults,abiomimeticswimmerwasfabricatedandanexperimentsetupwaspreparedtomeasuretheswimmingspeedandthrustforceinsiliconeoil.TheexperimentalresultsagreewellwiththetheoreticalvaluespredictedbyRFT.Inaddition,westudiedtheflowpatternssurroundingthefilamentwithafiniteelementsimulationwithdifferentReynoldsnumber(Re)tounderstandthemechanismofpropulsion.Thesimulationresultsprovideinformationonthenatureofflowpatternsgeneratedbyswimmingfilament.Furthermore,thethrustforcesfromthesimulationwerecomparedwiththethrustforcesfromtheory.Thesimulationresultsareingoodagreementwiththetheoreticalresults.
